This is a leadership role at frog. In this role you are expected to help frog grow its reputation, business and people through Product Management Leadership, Product Management capability development/mentorship, and Business/Account Development.
As Executive Director of Product Management, you’ll bring your unique mix of creativity, technical acumen, and business sense to take products from idea to reality. You will take a human-centered, collaborative approach to delivering products by connecting the skills and know-how of a diverse team to lead the design/delivery of tools that make a serious impact in people’s lives.
frog clients come to us to help them envision, define, and build new business, or to enhance their existing business with new products, services, and experiences. As the Executive Director of Product Management, you will nurture and coach a team of strategists, structure and sell consulting engagements to frog clients, and partner with peers in design, technology, and program management to ensure we deliver high quality work to our clients.
Your people responsibilities include recruiting, mentoring, motivating, and retaining a team of product managers and product management leaders. You will train them in product management techniques and methods, such as product vision, strategy and OKR definition, pricing and market value analysis, product roadmapping, feature prioritization, competitive market analysis, opportunity area identification, Agile product delivery methodologies for design and development, and more. You will nurture product managers in their frog careers, and actively help build an inclusive studio culture that allows your team to do their best work.
You will help expand frog business working closely with our clients to understand their needs, and then define consulting engagement to help them. You will lead pitch meetings where you present all of frog’s capabilities and negotiate program scope and fees. You will be a trusted advisor to a network of client executives and maintain those relationships beyond immediate projects. You will research, publish, and speak in public forum on topics related to frog’s work, such as innovation, product strategy and product delivery trends to drive interest in frog.
You will contribute to program delivery, either as the engagement leader on major programs or by offering insights and best practices to engagement teams. This involves guiding teams of product managers, strategists, designers, technologists, and program managers and critiquing their work to drive high quality output.
You will advocate for product management within frog and support the expansion of the discipline across North America.
As an Executive Director of Product Management. we want you to have:
- 12+ years of professional experience creating software products and services
- A deep desire to collaborate with designers, strategists, and technologists to develop new ideas, launch amazing products, and deliver exceptional experiences
- A track record of building and growing a Product Management organization within an organization
- Experience developing motivating, mentoring, and support product managers to do great work
- Experience in structuring and selling consulting engagement including crafting approaches, writing proposals, and presenting to prospective clients
- Delivered multiple products to market at both large and small organizations and/or as a consultant
- Demonstrated ability to own and exceed revenue generation targets
- Implemented strategies for managing and supporting large or distributed delivery teams
- Experience hiring product managers working with talent acquisition as a hiring manager
Additionally, we want you to have:
- Managed digital products from concept through production rollout as a product manager
- Defined and gathered alignment on product visions, value propositions, roadmaps, and go-to-market strategies
- Led product planning meetings as well as feature prioritization and tech alignment workshops
- Conducted research and testing to inform product requirements, strategy, and direction
- Implemented strategies for managing and supporting large or distributed delivery teams
- Created and managed product backlogs, requirements, and roadmaps using industry-standard tools like Jira or Azure DevOps
- Monitored product performance against pre-defined OKRs and KPIs to ensure best-in-class customer experience
- First-hand knowledge of different Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum, SAFe, etc.) and can recommend a product delivery approach to clients
- Implemented productivity and feedback loops, following DesignOps, DevOps, or ProductOps best practices
- Worked on products with multiple, parallel tracks of work
- Designed and facilitated workshops for all levels of stakeholders
- Strong presentation, communication and storytelling skills
- A willingness to travel for key client meetings
- Managed and mentored more junior Product Managers, helping them develop their careers and adopt best practices
It would be a bonus if you had:
- Ensured that programs you have led continue beyond their initial scopes and identified additional opportunities within the client’s organization
- Published thought leadership, with a track record of presenting and teaching in public forums and a social media presence
- Experience working in a creative environment with designers, and an interest in human-centered design
